My Drawings for 'Grandpa's Quilt'

I think that this is as fancy as I get! These are the measurments I used for 'Grandpa's Quilt' if you want to make one. It was really fun to make, I made the quilt top in an afternoon and then stared at it for a month because I couldn't decide how to quilt it! It finished at about a twin size I think. I made the points on the stars by cutting a rectangle and then sewing 2 squares on just like a snowball block in case you were wondering...

Grandpa's Quilt

This spring I got to make this BEAUTIFUL quilt for my dear great grandpa Leonard.
I have wanted to make this quilt for a long time and this was the perfect excuse!
The idea came from a quilt a a dear friend's house.
I have stared at that quilt for a LONG time and finally drew up the blocks on graph paper.
Now, i finally got to make it!

I want to make one for me now!

Sorry, the rest of the pictures won't load :( I was going to show you how to make the blocks.
Maybe later!

Thursday on the beach

wow! we've made it to Thursday already! Today we got to see some pretty cool stuff! Beware, this is a VERY picture heavy post again!

To start the day we had breakfast and played on the beach...
this is the view from our back porch!
then Jared hid from the camera!...

After that we went to see John Adams' houses...

On the trolley...no, we didn't pose for this picture!

the house where John Adams was born...

The place where John Quincey was born

they are right next to each other, this is the only picture I have to prove it but the cream colored building is John Q.'s birthplace and the brown house in the corner is John sr.'s birthplace. They are on the same lot and very close together.

and last but not least...the place where John Adams died and where he lived for a long time, it's about a mile away from the other houses. It really is a pretty house.

Jared

this is the fireproof library that was built to protect John Q's books!! It's a HUGE library!!!

a plague like thingy to commemorate John Q and his wife Louisa Catherine in their church

John Adams' plaque in the same church

the church had a cool little organ in the balcony in the back

a closer view of the organ
this is the pew that John Q sat in when he was alive

my mom and dad standing by John and Abigail's graves which are in the basement of the same church

this are John Q. and Louisa Catherine's graves they are in the same room
Jared standing in front of the gate of their tombs
then, we went back into the visitor's center and bought some ice cream from the neighboring shop...

then we drove home and fried some hamburgers for dinner and then the boys wanted to brave the cold and go swimming again...

Meanwhile I sat on the rocks because it was COLD!

we weren't finding any good stuff like last night and the boys finally realized that it was FREEZING so us kids hightailed it home,

but that's when mom and dad found the good stuff!!

a big fish!

and a big crab!

See ya later!

oh, P.S I have a really fun quilt to show you when I get home!

Sampler

I got this stack for Christmas and made a cute sampler with it, I need to take a picture of it before I send it to the longarm. This was a fun wuilt to make, I made a lot of different stars that I haven't made before. I just used a bunch of different 12" blocks I got some ideas from this quilt along but I only made about three of her blocks. It ended up being about a double size quilt that will probably end up on my bed.

Recent Sewing Projects

I made these quilts for the care center. The Christmas one somebody gave me the top already made so I just tied and bound it. the other one I am NOT showing you!! I was experimenting with a pattern for the top and it didn't turn out. I think it is going to go to a blind lady!

This is my first try at triangles, I need to finish quilting it. On the left side you can kind of see the lines of the quilting. this one is also for the care center.

These are some snowball bocks sewn together that I am making for a quilt top. I really like the colors and the pattern so far. this one will go to the care center.

I made this bag with the scraps from juice boxes

Maybe next time I will put some pockets in the inside or something to fancy it up a little bit more.

I really love how  the back turned out! I really like this stripes fabric, I found probably around ten yards of it in a shed at the land(who would of thought!) I am sad that it is almost gone. I also used it for the back of Juice boxes. You can't tell but I machine quilted flowers barely overlaping on the back. I wish I had pieced and quilted the front piece as well, I just stuck the pieces together.

This was a first attemt with this pattern, it was pretty east but takes practice. I'm glad that you can't see the mistakes in it bacause the lighting is bad. just don't look to close.

This is jsut a simple tube skirt that I made for easter with fabric from the DI. It took maybe 30 minutes so it was pretty fast.

I call this my Sense and Sensibility dress. Because that is what it looks like. When I wear it I usually tie a bright ribbon around it to give it color. I made it with a $2 sheet from the DI so it was cheap!! And the pattern was very simple.
OK, I am done babbling on,

Spring quilt

I have no idea what to "name" this one so it is the spring quilt!!! This one was really easy and fast(and fun!!!) I used two yards of white fabric and 2 charm packs. I love the quilting on this one and it took maybe 30 minutes. This was the first time I've quilted something bigger then a hot pad with cotton batting(if you were wondering, yes, it is polyester batting in Juice boxes). I really liked it. The back is a $5 flatsheet from Wal-Mart it is also the binding. The fabric is hulaboo by moda. I think it is more of what you'd see in a baby quilt but, I still love it!! Double click on the pictures to see the fabric better. And just to let you know(like you care) I really do not like doing bindings, they take forever and are just long and boring.
